I apologize for the time between posts, but as you know life is very busy. A lot has happened at Spur Acres. We have performance tested the two new studs and sold our first horse (Noster Necho). Exciting times for us. We are expecting our first foal out of Sam and Netieva this spring. Stay tuned for pictures.

Two New Stud Colts Have Arrived @ Spur Acres
Monday, May 3, 2010 by admin.
Last fall Tim and a friend (Don) made a quick trip to Austin Texas and picked up two stud colts. They wintered well and are now in training for their performance tests. They are the only foals out of an imported stallion that passed away unexpectedly. We hope they produce some beautiful foals in the future. Stay tuned for pictures of them driving as a team!

Happy New Year
Thursday, January 21, 2010 by admin.
We hope everyone had a successful 2009. We have started out the new year with great fun playing with our German Draft Horses. We went up to Brodhead Wisconsin to enjoy some great Bobsledding with TJ and BJ Mertens. Met a lot of new friends and as a friend of ours said, “Had about as much fun as you can with our clothes on”!

The feeling of Fall is upon us.
Tuesday, September 22, 2009 by admin.
You can feel the weather starting to change. The haying season is complete and we are looking to prepare for the quick approaching winter. Shannon should be coming next week to start building a fence around a pasture for our new additions - known as “the boys” right now. We do need to come up with our own names for the fellas.
I spoke to Hans Bokelmann last evening and got some bad news. His mare that was to foal died due to the foal coming backwards. It is so sad when you lose both the mare and the foal like that. Our hearts go out to them in their lose. That is a lose of three of the Oberlander breeding heard in the last year that I know about.
The corn crop is struggling to finish and we are praying for at least a couple more weeks without a frost and then a good fall drying season. Should be a good crop for which we are eternally grateful. Now if the Lord could do something about the price of corn that would help too! I guess you can’t have it all every year!

What a Summer! :-)
Tuesday, September 8, 2009 by admin.
The summer has been full thus the web site has suffered. Jen and I made it up to Canada to meet Hans and Heidelore Bokelmann and their beautiful Oberlanders. Their hospitality was much appreciated. The foals, Noz and Nadja are growing up fast and are weaned. They enjoy hanging out with their sister Hilde now, who believes she is now in charge! Just like our oldest daughter always was!
We just got back from Austin Texas where we picked up Saelic and Traugott, two stud colts. We are hoping that they will be able to train and pass the performance tests, so they can improve our herd. They are both modern type Oberlanders and it is an exciting time for Spur Acres. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but we are hopeful.

The Rogers brought over Abigail to see the new babies. Notice the pink cowboy boots. Abigail loves the horses, but I’m sure you can’t tell that!

Nadja is the latest arrival to Spur Acres!
Wednesday, April 8, 2009 by admin.
Netieva blessed us with a foal Tuesday, April 7th, in the morning around 4 am. I noticed the night before that she had wax and knew that she would be foaling soon. When I got up in the morning I had a feeling that she had foaled. I had this feeling as we were planning to put a foal alert on her since this was her first. At about 4:30 - 4:45 I was headed out to the barn and as I got closer I heard the all to familiar sound of a mare squealing. Sure enough, there was a little filly chasing Netieva around the pen trying to eat. Netieva didn’t know what to think about this strange creature. We had to hold one leg up on Netieva to get her to allow the foal to eat. After a while Netieva figured it out and we were off to the races. So far so good.
